The Better Leader Newsletter (April 30, 2020)
In the words of the great philosopher Kenny Rogers, “You gotta know when to hold’em and know when to fold’em”.
For the last 4 months, I have worked diligently on the Better Leader Newsletter in my spare time. I have endeavored to create content that is both valuable and helpful. Thousands of you read the Better Leader Newsletter every other week, and I’m humbled by all of the responses I’ve received.
As you know, my wife and I welcomed our second boy Jude into the world a couple of weeks ago. And as you also know, things change when kids come into the picture. We’ve entered into a new, exciting season of our lives as parents of two.
Not long after Jude’s birth, I realized that life had changed yet again, and in order for me to be fully present and available in my faith, my family and my work, some things needed to be put on hold.
In life, sometimes you have to say “no” to good things so that you can say “YES!” to great things. Sadly, one of those good things is the Better Leader Newsletter. While I enjoy writing the newsletter, it takes away precious time from my true priorities. If I cannot lead well in those, I cannot live up to being the better leader I espouse here.
So, this will be the last Better Leader Newsletter for the foreseeable future. I will re-evaluate in the fall, but I will keep my true priorities first. Only when I believe I can maintain those priorities with integrity will I return. And when that time comes for Better Leader to begin again, you will be the first to know.
Thank you for joining me thus far. I’ve only scratched the surface of what it means to lead well. My journey is far from over, and God’s not finished with me yet.
To better leaders,
